Rolling Round: 5 Ways to Take Care of Your Basketball. Engaging in sports is one of the ways you can keep yourself fit and healthy. Without necessarily using any exercise equipment during the game itself, it’s an instant workout where you will not just get sweaty but happy and active!

You will notice that there’s nothing much needed before you can actually play basketball. The most proper footwear is a pair of rubber shoes. Tight pants are not recommended but jersey shirts and shorts. A clean, well-floored basketball court is necessary. But you know what? If you come to think of it, even if you don’t have these things perfectly, you can still play this sport but with the two most important equipment: the basketball ring and the basketball.

Since these two are the most often used, then they also get the most harm and damage among all this sport’s important materials. Especially the basketball being the main equipment here, it must be taken good care of. Once it gets wrecked, it’s the end of the ball game.

To help you with that, below is a list of 5 ways to keep your basketball in good condition.

Just like what’s mentioned earlier, you can actually play basketball wherever you are. If you’re just playing for fun with your friends or if you’re practicing on your own, a misplaced basketball ring outside of your house would actually suffice. What could go wrong is the floor’s rough surface if outdoors, especially if the material the basketball is made of does not suit the environment.

If you have a leather basketball, be extra careful because it’s vulnerable to scratches, wounds and peeling off when the ground is coarse. On the other hand, you can use synthetic-material basketball outdoors.

Remember that the basketball always goes in direct contact with the ground; it cannot not do so. It hits it hard when it is dribbled and thrown, so it’s best that you be mindful of the quality of the ground. It must be safe and smooth for your basketball not to be damaged.

The basketball gets extremely dirty because it rolls, drops and gets dribbled on the floor. It gets passed from hands which are dirty and sweaty. It even flies out of the court and to somewhere not tidy. When it gets dirty or dusty, the accumulation of dirt causes it to easily olden, to be ineffective for a good play and to be unfavorable for a long-lasting material.

Eventually, your basketball might turn slippery, thus, giving you an uncomfortable time using it in a proper game.

Clean your ball well with clean water and proper cleaning agents. A rag soaked in mild cleanser combined with water will do. Avoid harsh ingredients; they will destroy the quality of your basketball. Do not soak the ball itself too. After all the cleaning, do not leave the ball wet; wipe it dry with a towel that’s appropriate for the ball’s material.

Even if you have gotten the most famous brand of basketball, without the right air content advised by the manufacturer, it’s not going to work right for you. It will be prone to getting unwanted damages.

Right air content means it cannot be lower and not higher than what it’s supposed to have. It must be just right. When used, basketballs get worn out; with that, air content is also reduced. That does not, however, mean that it’s safer to keep it in your closet because it can actually get destroyed too. Things kept all the time, left unused, stored in the most unsuitable settings have the tendency to deteriorate. Basketball loses a little amount of air when these things happen.

So your basketball can bounce tight, make sure to have its right air content. If it’s over-inflated, it can easily get abrasions; if it’s under-inflated, then it’s impossible to play with it.

When the ball is not in use, make sure that you keep it properly where it should be kept.

An often-used basketball must have air and must be stored indoors at room temperature. Keep it away from direct sunlight, rain, and other dangerous elements.

Store the ball in the basketball rack or in a secure spot in your bedroom where it will not be harmed and where you will not trip because of it. Store at room temperature.

Basketball is used for basketball, so do not use it in other games or sports. Use it only as it should be used. Using it for another sport could present some harm to you playing the sport you used it for.

At the same time, because the composition and material of basketball are all designed for its sport, it will not work well with other sports. With that, it won’t be able to adjust to whatever demands the other sports require.

If you’re going to use basketball for football, it’s just so wrong! First, you’re going to hurt yourself. Second, you’re hurting your basketball! It’s going to be a disadvantage to your sports equipment. Use the basketball for the purpose it has been created for.

You cannot play basketball sport without its ball! For you to preserve equipment, especially basketball, be careful with how you utilize them. Without your responsibility and discipline, you will keep losing them and spending on new ones. Take care of your basketball, and you will not save your stuff but also your wallet.
